Tonight's class

I'll try really hard to take notes, but I'm so tired tonight I'm struggling paying attention. Rossi of course isn't helping either as he's currently looking at Google Earth, of course. :)

The Samoan aunties have descended and there's a big family funeral going on tomorrow. I won't be in class this week, could you take notes for me?

For Tuesday 10/30

If I understand the book correctly, the assignment due next week will be the instructional strategy stage. It states there are five components for this stage and they are:
A. Preinstructional activities
1. Gain attention and motivate learners
2. Describe objectives
3. Describe and promote recall of prerequisite skills
B. Content presentation
1. Content
2. Examples
C. Learner participation
1. Practice
2. Feedback
D. Assessment (I see this being the hardest one to show/prove)
1. Entry behavior test
2. Pretest
3. Posttest
E. Follow-through activities
1. Memory aids for retention
2. Transfer considerations

Does everyone want to come prepared with ideas for tomorrow so we can get a jump start on this? We also have our article presentation due the same day as this assignment, so we have double the work to do in a week and a half.

Class for this week

Rossi, Lani and I are going to have to meet you at class due to the fact we're in a tech workshop Wed. and Thurs. and get out at 3:30. We just don't think there's enough time to make it to a trax stop and get food and get to class in time. So, we'll see you there :)

Wednesday, in lieu of class....

Let's meet at my place at 3:30 to hunker down and start writing this analysis thing. When I get home from work tonight, around 10:00, I'll email you two the start of the analysis I began last week (if I can find it on my computer). We may be at it for awhile tomorrow, so come comfy and ready to figure out what the heck the analysis paper is! :)

Lani, am sure I'm as relieved as you were when you finished; what a weight off of the shoulders, eh?

Finished!

I really hope that I made sense throughout the mid-term I just completed. It was more difficult for me to apply the principles that weren't found, then the one's that were. I'm just glad it's over!

Over and Over Again

Taking the midterm more than once definitely sucks, especially when I've started it in three different settings and so I think I've officially started taking it for the fifth time! Please bless some crazy supernatural event doesn't occur or two seriously may be visiting me in the looney bin :) Hope you had a great weekend! Lani, shall we discuss the madness of the midterm when we're both done, or just ignore the madness?

Holy Cow!

How was class you two? Thanks for the notes Joanna, I appreciate them. Thanks as well to the both of you for covering our presentation. How did it go?

Does Fall Break mean we don't have class Wed. or Thurs. night?

Would you like to know how many parents I had tonight? We had sign up sheets...30 to a page and I went through two pages and four lines of another. That's 64 conferences. I started right at 4 and had a line right up until 7:55...no breaks. We are so watching a movie tomorrow!

Joanna - I still don't have any info on our Thursday mid-term, although I did ask for the sites from Professor Riboldi. I'm in the process of getting my notes in order as well...I'm shooting for a 10 am deadline. You know, I'll work during Nemo or whatever I have my students watch.

Hope you are having a fabulous parent teacher conference full of educated and important parents who want to know why their child received a 99% instead of a 100% on their essay! :)
